I am not going to name this current artist that this blog entry is about. This particular artist is considered to be uber-talented.I thought so too.
I thought that he was "oh-so-different and original" and apart from the rest of the majority of the hollywood industry which is stealing and plagiarising like the plague
Anyways,Just a few minutes ago, I went to the PBS website and was watching PBS VIDEO SHORTS for the series AMERICAN MASTERS-INVENTING DAVID GEFFEN :Sunset Blvd
Go here to watch that video short yourself
click below
This is a preview of the upcoming episode due to premiere on PBS on Nov,20,2012 .The preview-short shows OLD FOOTAGE from way back in 1971, much prior to when I was born, prior to when this CURRENT ARTIST that I am talking about was also born..Me and the current artist are of the same age..so ..yeah
The video short talks about GEFFEN ROBERTS (a Hollywood agent?) and his office on sunset Boulevard and how Geffen and Elliott ,how they were a good team and how they were so ARTIST FRIENDLY and such. There is a tiny clip of NEIL YOUNG talking about Geffen in this video-short too. And as this clip is played, they play a background song of (possibly) NEIL YOUNG? (have to look this up)
I AM GOING TO EMBED THE VIDEO RIGHT HERE , (But as is the case with embedding videos from other sources , there is a high degree of possibility that this video might become unavailable at a later point of time, which is why I am taking pains to type out the gist of the video )
Watch Inventing David Geffen: Sunset Blvd. on PBS. See more from American Masters.
COMING TO THIS CURRENT ARTIST,I won't name him , BUT you will easily recognize him if you read the LYRICS of his latest song which charted no 1 on the billboard very recently..
Funnily, this Billboard No.1 song talks about NEIL YOUNG, about 1971 and also about California and what bothered me the most is that the TUNE of this song is exactly like the song of NEIL YOUNG which has been used as background song for that PBS VIDEO SHORT about David Geffen.
Neil young is alive, yeah?
So,If you are lifting his tune, You must acknowledge that in your credits on your album and also possibly pay him royalty, yeah?
Also,
This song almost sounds like it would be something written right after watching this very PBS video short..LOL
It is so easy to get away with plagiarism by calling it a "SONG INSPIRED BY YADA YADA" , as in , You "STOLE from yada yada without giving proper credit or royalty!"
When Hollywood singers who initially wrote songs about REAL life experiences to claim their place in FAME-LAND are now leading a RICH PERSON'S PROTECTED LIFE, they CEASE TO HAVE ANY REAL LIFE EXPERIENCES ANYMORE.They end up writing SHITTY-FORCED SONGS-ABOUT STUPID,MEANINGLESS HOLLYWOOD RELATIONSHIPS(which BTW are FORCED in their own way ) and then also write songs lifting from older artists (older-currently-lesser-known artists or songs) or even from CURRENT-real-talented-lesser know artists...sigh..All in an effort to KEEP THE MONEY COMING IN.
These so called CELEBRITY "ARTISTS"( Hate the word celebrity) get a taste of the wealthy lifestyle and don't want to ever give the comfort up
COMFORT IS SO ADDICTIVE that in order to continue to maintain the RICH LIFESTYLE, they start PLAGIARISING..STEALING songs from others..all for the MONEYED LIFE..NO?
SHAME ON THE PLAGIARISTS
